As always, I share in the pride of my fellow Filipinos that one of our sites, the Puerto Princesa, underground river, made it to the final count. I have been there and it is absolutely breathtaking. I am hopeful that recognition like this will bring to the world’s awareness some of the most beautiful places on earth, and that this in turn will lead to their care and preservation of these sites so that future generations may live to see them in their current splendour.
